The amp is running hotter, essentially at its max, but the gain curve on the GUI dial matches, percentage-wise, how I was setting the amps volume knob before the switchover to pure power amp mode. The power section of the amp is showing it has balls, and sounds much cleaner with the preamp deactivated. I guess Ill have to answer my own questions, after several hours of listening.
What exactly is a dithered noise floor, anyway Am I even on the right track with this approach to improve the SQ of my system, or is this a fools errand. However, with my gear, I view it as a trade-off which might still sound cleaner without the preamp circuitry in the mix.
